Onboard datalogging

Top  Previous  Next

KPro boards with a serial number of 4111 or greater have built in flash memory for datalogging without a laptop. These boards have 16 Mbit (2 Mbytes) of memory, and can datalog from 10 to 110 minutes depending on datalogging speed. The total number of datalogs is limited to 20 before the datalogs need to be download to a laptop or PC. Note: The flash memory has a write lifespan of at least 100,000 write cycles but it is not recommended to set datalogging on constantly.

Setup and Recording

See Datalogging Parameters for more information about setting up on board datalogging.

Downloading

To download datalogs from the KPro to a laptop select the 'Datalogging' tab of the KPro Window, or use the 'Download from ECU' command.

datalogging-download

To download a datalog select the recording and either use 'Download', which downloads the recording into KManager, or 'Save As...' which downloads the recording and saves to disk. Datalog recording downloaded into KManager can subsequently be saved to disk as well.

'Delete All' is used to delete recordings once they are downloaded.

Limitations

Datalogging to both a laptop and datalog to on board memory at the same time is not possible.
The flash memory has an endurance of 100,000 datalog/erase cycles, but it is not recommended to set datalogging up so that is runs continuously on the KPro.
Datalogs cannot be individually deleted - all datalogs must be deleted from the KPro at the same time.
Due to memory limitations, not all error codes are datalogged to the on board memory. Error codes which are datalogged are:
