Trouble with Data Logging

Post by wburke30 »

Last night, I took my car out for a spin. The hondata was acting very weird. As I was driving and viewing live data, all the gauges I had setup, RPM, Temp, etc.... started bugging out. All the gauges would flash red... For example, the temp gauge would be reading 170, then flash to 302 in red. at the same time the RPM gauges (and all other gauges) would spike up and turn red then back to normal and back to red and continued to do this, I shut the car down and restarted everything, and it would work for a minute or two than start acting up again. Eventually I turned the laptop off and went home.

Anyone ever had a problem like this before?? First time this has happened to me and my first hondata..

From Help, About, what is the version of software you are using?

Not 100% sure of the version (can tell later when i get home - 6pm EST)

wanted to note that the motor doesn't seem to be effected when gauages are bugging out..

FYI:
I have no other gauges beside a tach and battery in car, I have a laptop with the hondata gauges where the cluster on dashboard used to be.

Could spyware/viruses on the latop mess it up? Going to scan for that sh*t tonight.

Has J12 been cut on the ecu? It could be an ECU socketing issue if there is a bad solder joint somewhere. Also make sure that you are using resistor spark plugs.

I belive j12 was cut, I bought a p28 already socketed from store on eBay.

All I did was plug my s300 chip into it.
Everything has been working fine for the last 6 months.

I had vspec NHL plugs but switched to Bosch 3 months ago.
what r Resistor spark plugs, never heard the term..

Last week was the first time car was on road. The car has been to drag strip several times before that, everything was working fine.

I think he meant NGK. Maybe the hockey season wasn't long enough for him  .

Sorry meant NGK.. iPhone auto correct...

Would the spark plugs effect the data being recieved from hondata??
There cheap enough to replace, I'll get new NGK plugs and see what happens...

Cars been ran 5-6 times (runs at track 1/4 mile) in the plugs that are in it with no problem...

Could a low/dead battery cause issues??

Make sure the plugs are resistor type plugs as the previous link states.
