Failed Upload

I'm trying to upload a cal from my laptop to the ECU and I get a FAILED UPLOAD window. It's not just this Cal either as I've tried several of them. I've got the latest Ver. of Kpro and the lights on the ECU indicate that it's communicating normally from ECU to laptop. What I've noticed is that with the USB plugged into the laptop from the ECU it shows Online which I think is normal but it also says ignition is on when it's not. With the Cal loaded on the laptop and the ignition on none of the display numbers appear which is also puzzling. Anybody have any ideas on what issue(s) I've got and how to fix them?

I'm on the road comming back from a trackday at Thunderhill.
Fortunetly I was able to just keep the original Cal. on the ECU and drive it as is.
I'll get all of the required info posted once I get back home.

Ok, I finally got the info needed.
Ser# 282
Kpro Ver. 1.3.5.4
Can't data log even though the green light is on and the red is flashing indicating normal communication between the ECU and laptop.
Car is a Fiat X1/9 with the RSX Type S drivetrain supercharged @ 7psi.
I usde the Hondata Race car wiring schematic and for the most part it's worked fine since 2006.
ECU is from a 2002 RSX Type S.
I'm trying to upload a cal from my laptop to the ECU and I get a FAILED UPLOAD window after trying 2 different laptops with Kpro and 2 USB cables . It corrupted the the original cal that was on the ECU until I unplugged the battery and then it seemed to go back to the original.
I tried several different Cal.s and they all failed too. I've been able to load this Cal before. Also the Windows version if it matters is XP.

What happens when you go to Online, Tools and click on Erase ECU (clear security)?

Good question. I did look into doing this but it came up with a caution (are you sure you want to do this) and I backed out. I'll try later today and let you know assuming it's ok to erase the ECU security.

I've successfully erased and re-set the security code on the ECU and loaded the cal I wanted. The issues I'm having now is the ECU says it has low voltage during cranking and the laptop initially is on line and ignition on but after cranking the engine over it goes to off line. I then get the error code Daughter board communication error (batt voltage low when cranking) - Can't clear it because then I'm off line but with the engine
running.

Your problem is that you have low battery voltage when cranking. You either have a dead or dying battery, or you have a wiring problem that is not allowing the ECU to get full voltage when cranking.

I checked the batt voltage and with the engine off and it shows 12.5 so it seems ok. What is the voltage the ECU needs to see? I believe the USB supplies a small amount of voltage from the laptop too - does it play into this at all?

The issue is the voltage at the ECU when cranking. With the resistance of wires and connections between the battery and ECU the voltage is dropping too low when cranking.
The cable from battery to starter should be one piece of wire with no joins. The cable from the battery to alternator should also be one piece of wire with no joins. The battery should be grounded to bare metal - no paint under the ground strap - the same goes for the other grounds from the engine to chassis.
The ECU should get power via a fuse and relay when is suppied from the battery - this should not be 'teed' from the starter motor cable.

Got it. Looks like I'll be going through all of the wiring mentioned to ensure it's to spec - I suspect that I have a bad ground from the batt. to chassis as this is something that was changed recently and it seems to go with the problem I've been having. Thanks!
