Smanager freezes on vtec switchover

I have been using smanager for quite some time now on the same computer but just recently reinstalled smanager after it was accidentally deleted.

It installed fine, opened fine and I opened my previously saved calibration.
Everything worked fine while idling and adjusting and even as I pulled out onto the road. However the first time I put the engine under load and passed the vtec threshold the datalog froze. It seems to freeze in one of two places, either in the low cam map or in the high cam, on either one just at the switch point. Smanager still shows that the ecu is connected but the tracer freezes as well as all of the sensor inputs. Random cells also seem to flicker slightly in the map. The only way to restore datalogging is to pull the usb cable or close smanager. Any ideas? Its never done anything like this before.

it happen that to me sometimes. Only thing i can think of that wont freeze up on me is make sure the laptop don't get any vibration, to close to the ecu as in putting the laptop on the floorboard next to the ecu and check your spark plugs make sure it is a resistor type and check your coil, cap and rotor in the distributor for corrosion.

I'd say reinstall the driver.

Go through all the engine grounds, pull them off and clean the metal below the contact point. Do the same for the grounds inside the car (from memory drivers seat side, near the kick panel, under the centre console). Make sure the engine grounds go to their correct locations - often the timing cover ground is bolted to the timing cover rather than the stud which goes into the cylinder head. Make sure the thermostat ground is clean and has good contact, with no broken wires. Make sure that the harness is in good condition with no patches or crimped connections.

I will do all of that thanks. And as for resistor plugs they are and are the same plugs i tuned the car with for the last 6 months.

Ill also try reinstalling the driver as it is the one automatically installed by windows..who knows!
