Question on how to save current configuration.

Post by Seeker »

I have a Honda CRX w/ B16A tuned with a Hondata S300 back in 2006.

My Smanager software at the time was version 1-1-6.

That harddrive is now Toast!

I have just installed Smanager V1-4-1.

I want to connect to my S300 to save the current configuration file to my laptop.

Is there anything I should be concerned about before I start?

Thanks in advance!

you need a new map. Chances are it will be completely off when downloaded from the ecu. That is if the new version can even view it properly to begin with.

Forgive me, it's been a while...

Not sure I understand where I get a new map from?

My concern is I don't want to change any of my current configurations.

Should I go back to the previous SManager version I had to begin with?

Thanks again, in advance.

If you use the newer versions of Smanager, then you most likely will have to get a retune, IE new map.

If I re-intstall my previous version of SManager will I be able to see

my existing map settings or am I just out of luck?

I wanted to save my existing map as a baseline.

Thanks

You can try this, but there is always a chance that reading a calibration out of the ecu will corrupt it. If you cannot read the file you will need to create a new base map to upload ot the ecu (File, New).

Is there a base map for a stock '91 JDM B16A from Hondata that I can use as a backup?

I no longer have my Plex Wideband and until I'm ready to make some engine mods I'm definately not ready for a trip to the Dyno.

Thanks again.

hello

im i the same situation as thread starter.
the problem is that the engine was tuned by the builder when it was not installed in the car.

so there is no way for me to connect my laptop to see the map and download it for safety? or even set the launch rpm etc.

there would be a callenge to find a good tuner in norway to make a new map to me

What Spunkster is saying is it's possible to download the calibration from the ECU to your laptop, but there is a chance that in doing this the calibration will become corrupt.
If it becomes corrupt you'll need to upload a new calibration.

This is the kind of reason for making a few back-ups of your calibration.

Seeker; if you "must" download the map from the ECU, I'd try to use the version which was used initially
If the car is running fine just now, is it worth the chance?

If you install the latest version of SManager, there is a calibration available for a standard B16a.

so the risk is screwing up the map already in the ecu?

but if i find out what software version the tuner used at the time, i could install that on my computer and safely download it without any hassle?
