using k-pro just to datalog in another car

hi, i currently have two projects on the go, the first being a k20 dc2 which is not yet running.....second is a nissan pulsar gti-r, which although it is running, has bigger injectors and an safc and runs rich. i cant really afford a rolling road tune, or a wideband at the moment, but i have just got it running and is is the only car i can use at the moment for getting to work etc.
is there any way i can put my k-pro ecu with oem wideband in my nissan for now, just supply it with 12v and a ground wherever it needs it so it comes on and controls and heats the wideband, plug in my laptop and read/records the information off it. maybe tap into an rpm signal and do a bit of data logging on it. will the k-pro need to think the honda engine is running or can you just record what the sensors are reading even when the engine isnt running?
any advice? thanks in advance, Ben
