I have a UK Civic Type-R with JRSC @ 9psi.
I have just recently noticed that I get a bit of knock (20-30) at around 50% TPS between 3700 and 4000 RPM, before the engine switches to high cam. Is it worth retarding the ignition in the suspect area (bold)?:
rpm/col 11 12 13
3500 13.50 9.50 7.50
4000 14.50 10.50 8.50
4500 17.50 13.50 11.50
5000 17.00 13.00 11.00
5500 17.50 13.50 11.50
5800 18.00 14.00 12.00
6000 19.50 15.50 13.50
7000 19.50 15.50 13.50
8000 19.50 15.50 13.50

I was going to retard ignition values from 3500 to 8000 in columns 11-13 by 2.00 to see if it goes but would like some advice first if possible.

Any time there is knock reported you should always try reducing timing where you see the problem.

You don't need to go right up to 8k if knock is only between the 3.5 and 4 rows. Just retard it in those rows in columns 11-13. Maybe the row after as well but no need to go right up to 8k.

Thanks for the replies. I have retarded the ignition on rows 3.5 to 8, columns 11-13 by 2.0 and will see how it goes. The engine won't ever be any higher than 4 in those boost columns in the 50 deg cam anyway. I'll let you know how it goes today. My car is going to love the freezing temps this morning! How's the weather where you are fonz? Do you ever do any track days at Knockhill?

It was freezing yesterday but a bit sunnier today. Not been to Knockhill in my car yet as was waiting till I upgraded the brakes, for obvious reasons, but yeah hoping to get there sometime this year as got the brakes now.

I usually go to the Dreadnought/Star Performance evenings. http://www.dreadnoughtgarage.co.uk/trac ... ckhill.htm
They are quieter compared to other nights so less chance of nasty collisions. I've not had mine on the track since supercharging it. Four track days toasted my last brakes and I've also got a nice new brake upgrade to test out.[/url]
