s300 boost control solenoid problems

I am having an issue with my boost by gear solenoid. At first install it worked perfectly.....then it slowly started having problems at higher boost levels. For example it wouldn't hold 15 but it would hold 12. Then it wouldn't hold 12 but it would hold 10. And when I mean it wouldn't hold it, the wastegate wouldn't open at all and I would hit boost cut.

Now its completely gone. I went and disabled boost by gear with the lap top and then it was like I was running no waste gate at all. I couldn't do anything more than half throttle without hitting boost cut. So removed the selonoid from the equation and just ran off the wastegate spring an low and behold it worked properly.

Is this a common problem with the boost control solenoid? Is it warrantied? If it can be fixed, how can I fix it?

I have heard about this problem before....I guess its a good thing I hung onto my Greddy Profec Type S BC.

If its the older GM style they do wear out quick if you don't have the activation pressure set right.

Which solenoid are you using?

I am using whichever one Jeff Evan's installed roughly 3-4 months ago. Its not an old piece.

That doesn't tell us anything.

I would suggest contacting Jeff Evans so he can assist you with this issue.

I already have. He gave me instructions on how to properly diagnose whether or not the solenoid is bad but I haven't had the time to do so yet. How can I identify which solenoid it is?

First follow his instructions, then ask him which solenoid was used.

You might have a boost leak at the wastegate somewhere. Maybe in the vacuum lines or wastegate diaphragm itself.

he already said it works without the solenoid in the setup so , that would rule that out.
