Shuddering at idle cuz of timing?

Post by dasupacat »

-serial number of your K-Pro>>>> It's older model #01??
- the calibration (as an attachment)>>>>One of the maps that came with it. So I'm not sure.
- a datalog of a problem (as an attachment)>>>>Not sure if I can do this
- what sort of vehicle you have>>>>See sig
- what sort of ECU you are using>>>>Kpro
- anything about the car which has been modified from stock which may affect the ECU>>>>See sig.
- a specific description of the problem >>>>
Well yest was the first time I hooked up my laptop and used Kmanager. I looked at the displays. You know the ones with rpm's, eng temps, iat temps, etc. I've always noticed sometimes at idle my engine would shudder. Like maybe a few times a minute. Always thought this was becuse of the harder engine mounts. Now I noticed that it only happened when the ign went to -1 deg. during idle.
Is this normal or should I attempt to change a setting? The orig owner said he used a base map that came with the Kpro. Type-S stock tuned maybe? Anyway to tell?

Should I upload a new map and see if there is ign. retard at idle?
If this ign setting needs changed can someone explain to me how?
Can I datalog to my laptop?

If it has not been tuned I would highly recommend taking it to a Hondata dealer and get it tuned on the dyno. They may be able to help you with the idle as well. Running boost on an untuned ECU is a recipe for disaster.

My car is not boosted.
My questions weren't answered.
I don't have that kinda money to go get dyno tuned.
Any help would be much apprecitated.
Thanx

Your not really giving much help yourself either mate.

Try a different map that has similar setup to yourself and make a note of which map your putting on the car.

As for doing datalogs etc there are videos on this website showing you how to do it.

Posting a datalog with the problem and what map your using is the best thing to do but if it's untuned and your driving like that you may be harming your engine.

With all those mods you can't afford a dyno tune? The dyno near my house is crazy cheap. And it's a great dyno.

Also, for such an instance, a dyno tune really isn't the "tune" you should be looking at. Something like this would pertain to a street tune. A dyno tune will really help you only for WOT.

Also, is this during idle while it's warming up? Especially for me during fuel enrichment "warm-up" the engine tends to misfire more often, especially if you're using colder plugs, or if your plugs are just plain worn out. My buddy's car tends to throw a misfire CEL on his 750hp GTO because of using colder plugs.
8,000 rpm is NOT enough.

I am thinking what your experiencing is a slight lean missfire... Your best bet is post up a datalog and also your kal and we can help you from there.. WHat size injectors are you running? Trying reducing a/f to 13.59 and go from there... And maybe add fuel in your fuel tables of idling..

Timing ATBC (negative) is normal at idle. It is called 'ignition controlled idle'. Some information is in the help file under 'TPS Ignition Problem'.
