A/F Ratio Spike to 32

Post by da_gawd »

This is my first post and I am a noob to KPRO and this form. Here are the details of my set-up:

KPRO 5875
2002 RSX type S K20A2
Using RSX Type S 2002 ECU
Type R Cams, Hondata IMG, DC Sports Header, Type R LSD, Type R flywheel and clutch, TSX 6th gear, 5.062 Final Drive, AEM V2, RBC Intake Manifold
The A/F reads up to 32:1

I’ve had the kpro for two days and the A/F reading will spike to 32:1. Could this be correct? The literature that I read states that the RSX A/F meter wont even read that high. In addition I have lean protection on and it does not retard it. Could the A/F meter be faulty or is it the calibration? I’m using the k20a2 itr cams, and header base cal included with the kpro with no current modification to the tables.

If you mean when you are off the throttle completely then yeah it'll read that high.

Also your running too rich. You need to take out quite a bit fuel in bits.
Do you know how to modify the tables and what you should be looking for, because if you don't my advice is don't muck around with it.

Do a 3rd gear run from 2k to redline and I'll sort your WOT fuelling.
I don't do full maps for free anymore so will help you on WOT as a favour but will only be quick changes to "all tables".

Cranny might help you further.

Ok give this a try and do another 3rd gear run for me.
I've tweaked and smoothed your WOT tables but I adjusted all tables in one go.
I also changed your gear ratios to suit your setup.
You may be able to run more ignition but to be honest there ain't much point playing about with that unless you go for a full tune.

Also you may benefit from raising the crossover a little. Does it feel a bit flat around crossover till 4.8k?

EDIT* Map reposted due to thinking you were using itr-k20a map but no downloads so guessing you ain't got it yet anyway.

the itr map has it set to 3.8k Cranny. So need to raise it

*EDIT scrap that. I thought you were using the itr-k20 map. No matter. Cranny the K20A2 map is set to 4.1k so still needs raised.

EDIT** I redid the map for you mate using the K20A2 itr map.

Here is the latest 3rd gear WOT run using the cal that you modified. It did feel a little flat at crossover, but the induction noise increased so I am certain it went to the big cam. From what I've read it should be smooth and not like the old "'kick" you'd get before having a KPRO when vtec came in. So I guess I could call the crossover either smooth or flat, don't know.

the map he was originally using , k20a2 ctr, itrcams, header, vtec was set for 5300. 4500 is most likely good for him.

Give this map a try mate and do the same. Do you agree that your car runs pretty flat from 4.1 to 4.8k?

I'll give the map a try probably tomorrow, since we are having a snow storm right now. I would agree that the car runs flat from about 4 to 5k, although it is a vast improvement from before KPRO. I'll get back to you ASAP.

Thanks for all your help

OK well before you use that map, Just use this one. I've raised the crossover and changed the low cam angle to suit.
