I have a 2000 Civic Si, and I put a Random Technology Catylitic Converter on it. It caused my check engine light to come on. My question is would a Hondata System solve my problem? Or is there another way to solve my problem? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Eric
Check Engine Light
Your 2000 SI is running off of a OBD2 ECU, that has 2 O2 sensors one before and one after the catylitic converter, if the O2 sensor after the Cat doesn't see that the cat is lowering the emissions to spec it will give you a check engine light.
If you go with a hondata you will need to convert you OBD2 car to a OBD1 (this just requires a adapter harness and you'll need a OBD1 ECU from Hondata's list). The OBD1 ECUs (that the hondata's run on) do not have that second O2 sensor so it will not give you a check engine light, even if you have no Cat at all. You wouldn't need the second O2 sensor at all (the one after the Cat).
I'm not sure of any other way to clear it.
I hope this helps,
