Which ECU is best?

Post by cg6accord »

Hi guys I don’t know much about Hondata I’ve been doing some research and have found great information on this site. I’m doing a K20/K24 swap in my 2001 Honda accord but I’ll be using the 04 Honda Accord 5spd transmission and I’m not positive which ecu would be best. I know I can use the RSX base 5spd ecu but was wondering if I got the Type-S 6spd ecu would it work out. I found a 6spd ecu for fairly cheap and would rather get this if it’s possible and it would be easier to resell if I need to. Basically if there are any benefits or draw backs from either ecu it would be greatly appreciated if you could let me know about them for my setup.

For your application the RSX-S, base RSX or Civic Si ECU will work. Read the swap tech pages http://www.hondata.com/techk20swaps.html

Thanks for your help does it matter which harness along with ecu I use, Like can I use a RSX-S harness with a base 5spd ecu and the other way around or do you have to match the ecu with harness.

A 2002-2004 Civic or RSX (base or S) harness would be best.

Is there any issues then running a base 5spd harness with the base 5spd ecu with Kpro as far is it running the frank motor and getting full potental out of this since I'll have the k24 bottom end and k20z1 head.. I was told it would be better to run the type-s harness and ecu with kro because of the engine setup I'm dropping in or are they wrong. I ask because I already have a type S harness and would rather confirm with you guys since you know best.

If you have a 6 speed transmission, then you should use the RSX Type S harness and ECU from an 02-04.

I have a 5spd I just noticed the base and type s wiring harness are the same part numbers. Does anyone know if a 37820-PND-A03 ecu is fine with Kpro just want to confirm it's from a usdm Base 5spd 02-04 rsx.

Since you have a 5 speed transmission, then that ecu will be fine. It is from an 02-04 Base RSX.

Thanks I could not find the part # on acuraoemparts.com for all year base's I wanted to run Kpro with this ecu. You think it's a Canadian ecu # stamp which I think it maybe is because it's not showing up under A03 in the US acura pars database but I see a few like A01 and a few others.
