hi hondata,
in the TSX k-pro announcement, you made the following reference about 07/08's--
What about the 07 and 08 TSX?
Hondata cannot program the 07 and 08 Acura TSX ECUs. It is possible that an 04-06 ECU might work in an 07-08 TSX, but this has not been tested.
as an 07/08 owner (07AT to be specific), i have a few questions regarding testing if a swap works if you're inclined to answer them.
1. is there any way to determine if the 04-06 ecu's would work in the 07/08's without taking the plunge in purchasing the TSX k-pro, rsx ecu, etc...?
ie. could i find a factory 06AT ecu and matching immobilizer, swap it into my 07 and see if it works that way? or would the ecu actually have to be a k-pro'ed TSX ecu that needs to be swapped and tested?
2. what possible ramifications would there be if the 04-06 ecu's were not compatible with the 07/08's for the purposes of using k-pro? would there be any long-term damage done to the car or would just various features not function? you've mentioned in the past that a swap for the 06 reflash into the 07/08 isn't recommended b/c the ecu part numbers are different indicating a change in both ecu's. just wondering if that same logic applies here with k-pro, or if it doesn't b/c the make-up of the 2 products are different (reflash as a fixed map, k-pro being tuneable)
3. is hondata considering testing a 04-06 k-pro swap into an 07/08's in the future.
thanks.

Honda's wiring diagrams indicate the 04-06 ECU should drive the 07/08 TSX.
They also indicate the 04-06 ECU installed in this car loses the ability to communicate with the stock OBD II connector, so there is no way of datalogging from the stock ECU for things like drive by wire problems etc. It would require the installation of a wire from the ECU to the OBD II connector.
If someone in SoCal would like to would like to make contact with us, I could test the dual adapter harness on an 07-08 fairly quickly with an 04 ECU.
However, we have a lot on our plate with the 04-06 TSXs so I would suggest making contact in about 5-6 weeks.

thanks for the response hondata1. appreciate the info.
i'm trying to ask around the TSX-related forums to see if anyone locally with an 07/08 would be willing to set an appointment and take you up on that test swap offer.
hypothetically, if the 07/08's were able to run on the older ecu's, how difficult would it be to create a fix for the OBD II connection? or can that only be determined after testing?
