K-Pro TSX Alternative

Post by CarGuy37 »

I was reading your Tuning the TSX article and you clearly said, "There are no plans for a fully programmable system for the TSX." That's cool. I understand the tradeoffs you must make between development resources and estimated return on investment.

After retrofitting a K-Pro to run the K24, you also said "The downside of this conversion is that the instrument cluster, air conditioning and vehicle stability assist did not work." May I suggest an alternative solution? Why not run a tandem ECU setup like you do for the S2000?

One ECU would be a K-Pro that serves as the main ECU (the same one that gets annually OBD2 tested) and the other one is given just enough information (i.e. wires) to correctly run the aforementioned items. Is this doable? Would it be something Hondata would be interested in pursuing? If not, I still imagine that someone highly motivated, after carefully study wiring diagram could provide an adequate solution.

The dual ECU method is something which we have been working on since sometime in 2005. There are still some issues to resolve before a kit can be made.

That's good info!

The ability to K-Pro a TSX would play a huge role in influencing my build direction. I prefer NA, but without the ability to tweak the VTC or compensate for higher compression or different cams pretty much kills that endeavor immediately.

The other alternative is the CT-Engineering route which already has a reflash available, but it's not NA.

Either way, keep up the good work!

i've read mixed comments about whether k-pro for the 04-06 TSX's will work for both manual and automatic transmissions. will both MT's and AT's be able to use it?

also, i know it's not even out yet for the 04-06's, but would hondata possibly consider the same set up for 07/08's down the road? as an 07 owner, it'd be great if an option was available for those years despite the ecu's being different.
