1988 honda crx sir starting problems. need some help.

Post by crx_54727 »

I have a 1988 honda crx hf i modified it into an SIR, ill start with my ecu. im using my old wiring harness that came with the car stock. the ecu came with the vtec. iv added wires like o2 sensors and crank sensor. now the engine is giving me a code back, it blinks 8 times, which meens that its the top dead centre sensor i think, im not sure. i dont know where the sensor is located and i dont know how to fix it. if you could help me out with that it would be great. now my engine, i have a B16a1 Vtec, now when i turn the key to crank it over, it cranks over good but it just doesnt want to start, on the second attempt to start it it sputtered a couple of times, like it wanted to start then thats when my check engine light came on and i got that code. can you give me any suggestions or help. thank you.

Sounds to me that you have a wiring problem between your Top Dead Center Sensor and your ECU,

The Top Dead Center Sensor is in the distributor but (in B16A1's/OBD0) you can't get to it with out just about destroying the distributor THE SENSOR IS PROBABLY FINE it is just a magnetic pickup

I'd bet the signal is not getting to the ECU This stuff is hard to sort out but here are some links to PR3/PW0 ECU pin outs

I hope this helps,
