Hey guys....I know that if I trade someone the ecu, the immobilizer, and all my keys, I will be able to sell my hondata ecu for a stock ecu...Would there be any problems doing this? let me know asap

I need an answer to this ASAP also. I would like to swap to a K20A2 Hondata flash, but I'm not 100% sure on how this can done easily.
1. Can we swap ECU, immobilizer and keys and everything will work fine... including door locks, trunk, alarm and glove box locks?
2. Can we swap JUST ECUs and have our local Acura dealer reprogram it so that all serial numbers match? How much should this cost?
Please let me know ASAP. Thx

I am pretty sure that the swap would work - I wish hondata would comment on this situation, but then they might loose some money if people start selling their Hondata programmed ECU. Im sure Acura would be able to change everything for free as long as your under warranty.Someone please comment from hondata

Yea, hopefully we can get confirmation from Hondata on this. If I find out via other means, I'll let you know. In the mean time, we can just keep bumping this thread
FYI, I've heard of Acura charging one guy $86us for this and another dealer charged the guys $200 EACH! Seems a bit pricy for a quick computer serial # matching.

I suggest you check the factory service manual to see the procedure to change an ECU in an RSX...then you can appreciate what the dealer has to do, and how much it is likely to cost.
I don't know specifically, but there could be a risk the dealer could also compromise the Hondata programming during the process, by doing a service update or ?? at the same time. You would be best to contact or work with one of the Acura Dealers who also is Hondata Authorized.
Assuming one party owns a Hondata flashed ECU. In my opinion, that person should be free to sell that programmed ECU. If the buyer owns a valid Acura automobile host, they should have the right to request an Acura dealer to install the ECU and rematch to the new host car.....as long as they can prove ownership of the vehicle and are willing to pay the labour cost to reprogram the matchups of ECU/Immobilizer/Key/VIN. The same should go for a person selling a stock ECU for installation into another valid vehicle for another owner.
The obvious issue is this defeats the security features of the Acura, and the dealers have to verify the valid ownership of the vehicles.
Don't you just love the new technology!!!
It would still be appreciated to hear Hondata's position or solution to this....does anyone review this forum anymore??
