a lot of Knock problems.

Post by deadphishy »

car: EP3
ecu: PRB
block k24a1
headed k24a2 with k20a2 valve train and VTC gear

So i've been trying to tune my k24 frank with 11.5/1 CP pistons and forged rods. Stock head. It has proven to be a big problem.

At first i was getting hundreds of little knocks on a single 3rd gear pull. So we dropped the ignition and nothing happened. So i redid the valve lash to find it was very out of spec. (I was told this happens sometimes after break-in)

So most of the knocks went away. I was left with a few right after vtec crossed over, and a few right around 7k rpms. These knocks just wouldn't tune out. We added fuel, Took out timing, and changed the cam timing so it didn't have to rotate as much. nothing. I'm down to 17 deg ign and it's still knocking. I don't hear or feel the knocks.

I get a lot of knock voltige from 2-2.5k even under no throttle. sometime well over 1 volt. But it doesn't record them as a knock.

here is my lastest datalog. any help would be great, I'm running out of Ideas. and don't know what to do next.

You will get some noise from aftermarket pistons. You may want to just disable the knock sensor.
