need help with jdm k20a tune

Post by HELLRAZR »

i'm new to k-pro, and this is what i was able to come up with, the car performs better, but still knocks alot, and it's consuming gas like a V8... can someone plz revise the log and the map and tell me what's wrong, and how to fix it?

here's what's been done to the car... it's a pnf ecu with k-pro obviously, jdm DC5 K20a engine/tranny, aem v2 CAI, DC5 header, 3 inch straight pipe, no cat, no resonator, i only pump 98 octane gas, and from time to time 104 octane booster.

thanks.

Can you do a WOT run in 4th from 2k to redline? The datalog you've posted doesn't help too much.

I've supplied 2 maps. 1 with just fuel changes(nabil tweak) and 1 with ignition changes as well as the fuel (nabil knock tweak) as you had 4 counts of knock within that run.
Also you didn't WOT all the way to redline. You came off the gas a bit then back on but not WOT.
Can you open what ever map you go for (I'd recommend the ignition changes one) and connect laptop to your ECU and switch on ignition but don't upload it yet. Go to the Knock/TPS tab and select it. Now click on read minimum reading making sure your foot is completely off the throttle. after you get a figure put your foot on the throttle right to the floor and click on read maximum reading. Once you get a reading go to the save icon and save the map.
Then upload it and do another WOT run in 4th for me. It should be a bit better this time.

Forgot to say I'd check your throttle cable isn't too loose as your WOT was reading 93-95. I'd expect it to be between 98-103( well they have been with the cars I've seen so far).

Also you'll need to send me back the map you go for with the corrected TPS readings.

Hi mate,

No probs with helping. Here ya go. Try this. You were knocking over 8k so took out a couple degrees ignition and tweaked your fuel a little.
Give it a try as before and put up your datalog so I can make sure it cured the knock.

Your fueling is pretty good now. Only 1 count of knock during that run is well which may be nothing but took out a degree at that point to be safe.

I'm concerned with the knock count of 23 before the run started though. Can you send me a log of where all that knock is coming from.

Use this map as WOT is decent now and you'll need to take it to a dyno if you want gains from ignition/cam changes.

ok here's a log oh me taking the car from 0 to mid of sixth gear... but when using the same kal file and running a 4th gear run @ WOT there's no knock what so ever. another thing i noticed, i lost my launch control, even if i set it and upload the kal i still don't have launch control

thanks again

Hi mate,

The initial map you sent me didn't have launch control activated. I've only made tweaks to your fuel and ignition values. What settings are you going for?

I've pulled some ignition as thats loads of knock. Try this one and if it knocks like that again just abort the run and send me as far as you got.

The latest map was done on the latest software Spunkster. 1.2.8.0 I think it's at now huh? Upgraded to it yesterday.
The previous maps were on 1.2.5.0 I think, not sure get confused with the different version.

This has been tested and once saved, and reopened all parameters are saved as they should be and the launch control and full throttle shift work as they should.
