Weird RPM problem

Post by lcopas »

I have an S200 and P28 ECU on a hybrid '97 EX with a B16B.

The problem I am having is that the car will not hold a steady rpm at around 3000 to 4000 RPM.

If you are stopped, and just press the throttle to bring the RPM up to the range mentioned, the car will drop the RPM down to about 1000 to 1500, then bounce back up, then go back down then bounce back, it it will continue to do this all while holding the pedal steady.

I know it has to be some problem with the Hondata unit, possibly a setting, as it does not do this with the stock ECU.

The weird part about it is that is doesn't always do it ... some times I can jump in the car, start it up and drive away .... and not have any problems.
Stop the car, and start it back up ...and it will start doing this weird RPM surging thing ... also, when it is doing the surging RPM thing, the car is almost undrivable at low speed .. it bucks back and forth like crazy .. but if you get the RPMs up above 4000 .. the car runs fine...
Please help as this is driving me crazy ....

I am also experiencing the same problem. But I am also getting a check engine light with a code 43 (fuel supply problem). Are these two thing related?

I never got any error code when I was having this problem ... probably need to investigate the code 43 closer ...
