Running Kmanager 1233 and AVG free antivirus updated itself yesterday it saw kmanager.exe as a "klone" threat. Now kmanager does not load. Previous version 1231 has no problems... I've scanned for everything (using 4 different programs) and the system does not see any problems(ie virus, malware, spyware, etc..).
The icon pictures go back to a generic icon
This happened to my other computer that I dont use often too....Could this be a false threat....
removing it and installing a new copy does not help..
Any suggestions....

It's definately AVG, it did that to me today too, and I had to completely uninstall AVG to fix the problem.

Both the KManager application and the KManager install program are digitally signed - you can view the certificate under properties. If any changes are made to the program, such as by a virus, the certificate will no longer be valid. So as long as the certificate is valid, there is no virus.
The way virus scanners work is by scanning every file for a virus signature, which is usually a fairly short binary sequence. For whatever reason AVG is finding this in KManager (and SManager).
AVG will eventually update their definitions and the problem will go away. Until then, remove KManager and SManager from directories scanned by AVG and add them to the real time scanning exclusions.

If you have AVG free edition version 8 then you will need to double click on the AVG icon in startup. Then double click on resident shield and click on the manage exceptions button. Check off the box for use excludes for the resident shield. You will then need to click on the add path button and browse to C:\Program Files\KManager and click on ok. You will then see that path listed and checked off, so then you click apply and ok. You should now be able to use your K-Pro software with AVG version 8. :D

I forgot to mention to click on save changes on the screen where you clicked on manage exceptions after you have entered the path and clicked on appy and ok.

I have AVG Free 7.5 and I can't see how to exclude files or folders. The option is greyed out. I'm downloading version 8.0 to see if it does.....
