High Water Temperature

Post by silverstream »

Hi to all,

I've recently plugged an ODBII scanner into my K20A3 and to my surprise, the water temperature shows 101degreeC and air intake temperature at 60degreeC !!!!
(Temperature Guage shows below the 1/2 marking!!!)

Ambient temperature at that moment was probably 26degreeC !!!

Is the iVTEC engine meant to run HOT or something need to be done ?

Not too sure about that, but 101C water is above boiling...that can't be good!

That's not too too hot, is it? Water in a pressurized system will have a higher boiling point, which is why the water's not boiling over right now... if you're belching coolant out of the overflow tank you've got a problem.

First I'd make sure that the temperature is consistent. If so, it's probably a design feature. Remember that newer engines are designed to run hotter because hotter engines typically run cleaner.
