does the type-s and base rsx share the same sensor on the throttle body?

The sensors are all the same. Please try the ecu on another vehicle. This will tell you if it is a problem with your ecu or with your car.

You have asked this before. You must use the 02-04 o2 sensor with the K-Pro. You are trignto determine if there is a problem with the IAT, so don't worry about other errors when testing. Just look for the IAT error.

could i only buy a new harness?

There is no need to buy a harness since you have not completed all the troubleshooting steps yet. You need to try this ecu in another vehicle to see if it is getting the same IAT error there.

Yes you can try it on any RSX, just don't use the adapter if it's an 02-04.
