ECU light on start up,, but only sometimes

This has been a little problem i have lived with for a while now,

Basically sometimes when i start my car the ecu light comes on and the car idles at 2000 rpm, turn it off and usually it clears the problem,

then it wont happen for months then do it again somtimes once sometimes twice in a row, then never again for days or months.

Once when it did happen i had the laptop plugged in and got nearly every error code possible, when it happened today with the laptop plugged in i didnt get any error codes out the ecu, but had the warning light on the dash and 2000 rpm idle.

Any ideas on places to start looking, have tried reseting ecu, reloading calibration, even once took out the s300 and carfully reseated it just to make sure it hadnt worked loose or anything odd.

its an odd one and have not been able to catch a datalog of it happening yet.

May just be a voltage drop when cranking the engine that is casuing a temporary fault.

Very true spunkster had crossed my mind it may had been that.

I did experiance the problem after the car had been stored for a month but was started weekly, still not as good as a good run tho. it has happened on the odd occasion when the car has been stopped for only a couple of minutes after a long drive such as when getting fuel,, ill try and keep tabs on it see if i get lucky with having the laptop plugged in again and datalogging when it happens,, I bet it never will happen if im trying to datalog it tho  .

Just one of those slightly anoying problems that show up rather intermitantly. I know how fussy Honda ECUs can be with voltages when I had My D16 installed that ecu wouldnt start the car if it was a little low on voltage.
