Alright so I'm planning on getting an S300 with boost control, and eventually turboing my civic.
For now I really want to explore tuning first hand before I turbo the car and have to tune it then with more risk.
Car Now:
93 Civic Ex
250k+ miles
D16z6
Zex/Comp 59300
Springs/Retainers
Cometic HG
ARP headstuds
Fidanza LW FW
I/H/C/E
Parts to go on:
T3 Garrett Turbo
Spoolin Log Mani /3" DP
DSM Balanced 440's
Tial WG
Porsche 944 FMIC
Forge DV
2 or 2.25" Charge piping
Walbro 255lph pump
Scat Rods/Vitara Pistons (prob. won't go in on the first go around with turboing it)
I figure that by doing the Hondata and Wideband plus maybe EGT, I should be able to get a good grip on tuning for my current mods from the stock d16z6 basemap. (I also have acess to a mustang dyno for free No HP/Trq Graphing (as far as I know) but it does display it in real time).
SO I have a couple of questions:
1. What is the best WB O2 to go with I see PLX seems to be the more recommended is there any specific PLX system or will any of them work?
2. What is the best MAP sensor to get (I'm going to be boosting so I'd prefer to just get the MAP sensor I will end up using now).
3. Are there any other sensors that tie into the S300/P28 that I should get now as well?
Some other general questions I have are:
A. How accurately does the "autotune" function tune the car? Does it take those parameters and set up a map? (also how does it autotune? do you set a A/R you're tuning for and it adjusts everything accordingly?)
B. W/O a laptop after everything IS tuned is there a switch or something to switch between maps? IE highboost / lowboost maps? Or do you need to have the laptop to change to a different map.
C. Is there a general information sticky or post somewhere...
I'm not entirely clear on all the features and what some of them do/are setup...
I'm perfectly capable/knowledgable enough to do this on my own but the more I can read before hand the better IMO.
Thanks for any/all comments/tips/links.
*EDIT*
Also any info on injectors would be appreciatted... I already have the DSM's but if I can buy aftermarket injectors new that don't require resistor box/rewiring I'd prefer to do that.

any of them will work, i have the m300 and its been great
2. What is the best MAP sensor to get (I'm going to be boosting so I'd prefer to just get the MAP sensor I will end up using now).
there is no best map sensor... you just get the one with that is able to read enough boost that you will be boosting. i would just get the gm 3bar, its only $65 shipped new with pigtail connector from xenocron.
3. Are there any other sensors that tie into the S300/P28 that I should get now as well?
nope. dont really need a egt either.

look through hondatas help file. but i wouldnt use autotune! i dont know anyone that has ever used that. you cant just autotune it and be done, it will still need alot more tuning.
B. W/O a laptop after everything IS tuned is there a switch or something to switch between maps? IE highboost / lowboost maps? Or do you need to have the laptop to change to a different map.
yes, you can hook up a external switch to do alot of things in hondata. but i would still get a laptop, you can get a cheap one for $50 on ebay. wouldnt be able to datalog on the slow thing but youll be able to get in there and change stuff.

read the help file that comes with smanager, go to hondata.com and start going through links reading, a bunch of info there if you look.

you cant use dsm injectors with hondata.

Thanks for the detailed reply.
Balls on the No DSM"s...
So what injectors are good... I used to only hear about RC's but now I see all sorts of other names out there....
I read through just about all the articles in the S300 section of the Hondata tech section... Which definately cleared a lot of my questions...
I'm confused on the DSM"s though when I was looking around for basemaps it seemed that almost all of the ones I found posted on another site were at least described as being for DSM 440.
I'll just search on the injectors... I have a hectic job so I don't find much time to search through forums anymore so I just take the lazy route and ask Q's.
Thanks for the info!
Any more welcome.
*edit*
Did some searching... I'm just going to sell the DSM's I have and get some RC's I guess....
Just curious as to what CC's I should be going for... the DSM's were going to be temporary... I do intend to push the boost up later so if the Hondata can operate the Ijnectors at a lower capacity smoothly I'd prefer to get the final size injectors now and just retune when I add and eventually up the boost.
SO... what size would handle 350-400whp 650's, 750's? and will those run my car smoothly before I boost it? Obviously I'd tune it for A/R just want to be sure they can run at such a low load w/o idle problems.
