VSS speed signal for Speed/Power Guage?!?

Hi there... This is my first post on the hondata forum, altho I have been using hondatas for a while now.
My question is about VSS and speed signals from the k-pro.
I've got an ITR DC5, with a k-pro. And I'd like to know if it's possible to get a vss signal from the k-pro. I understand, from looking at the pin out, that there is a VSS Out on the k-pro.
Highlighted in blue. However as you can see on my E-connector I have nothing comming out of the VSS Out.
Does the hondata know how fast I'm going and give an accurate output in pulses? If so how many pulses? And will it be possible to wire a speed power guage to this output? I've currently got the guage hooked up to the VSS signal on the engine harness, but i'm not getting the correct output for the guage to give the correct readings!
Also, and possibly more importantly. I've not yet hooked my k-pro up to a laptop, altho the previous owner has had it tuned quite well. When i do hook it up will the current settings and map be saved or will they be wiped?
As I say i'm a complete noob, but very willing to learn.
Cheers
