s300 not communicating

Post by onespeed »

my car was dyno'd and raced, i never set the launch control due to vss not working. i fixed vss and want to set the launch rpm, but i can't get the ecu to communicate with my laptop. this is the first time i am trying to use my ibm notebook to set anything. i went through the driver install and the s300 shows that my laptop is online when connected to ecu. any ideas?

If it says online then it sounds OK. Are you loading a calibration? Can you datalog? What error message do you get?

if you're saying that you are making changes to the fuel maps, but the ecu isn't recognizing the changes, i was having the same problem. upgrade smanager to 1.3.1 and it will work again.

I don't have any error codes, the screen doesn't do anything with the engine running or not. All I want to do is set the launch control. thanks

saying that the "screen" doesn't "do anything" is rather vague. are you saying that your laptop screen isn't turning on? if so, i recommend charging the battery.

seriously though, describe your problem a little better and you'll get better help.

what version of smanager do you have?
when you hook up the usb cord, does the laptop recognize that the s300 is connected?
in smanager, if you click "online" in the menu at the top, are upload and download available or greyed out?
are you opening a calibration file stored on the laptop or downloading the calibration from the s300 unit?
while the car is running, when you click the "record datalog" button (the red circle) does it open a graph showing your rpms/afr/map reading?

Thanks for your post. Sorry about being so vague in my last post. This is the first time I'm using my laptop to communicate with my ecu.

I got it to work, when I change the launch rpm in the parameters window, do I just upload it to the ecu? Thanks again.

yea once you make the change, just click the upload button and you should be done.

It sounds like the step that you are missing out is loading a calibration.

can I load a calibration without affecting the tuning set up that my car is running on right now?

Either get the tuner to email you the calibration, or go to Online -> Download to download the calibration.
