SRS light

I have a completly stock 2000 civic lx. I had an alt problem, which I was told "this is the reason for the SRS light" when I bought the car in 2003, but had that fixed. My father had the car from 2005 till early this month, and now the SRS light comes on when the engine revs above 1800rpm's. the light stays on consistantly from 1800 to redline. When I push in the clutch, and the engine drops to idle it turns off again. I just got back inside from checking my alt. with all the accs. on the car did not die, so I am at a complete loss.
