Do I need to use dyno?

Post by quik1 »

I have an s200 that does not work at this time I think its a bad chip. The place where I bought it says they need to take out my car and tune it on the street with wideband. They said that they need to do this cause you can only tune under full throttle on the dyno. Can I tune the whole thing on the dyno? Thanks

go to a mustang dyno and make partial throttle runs.

Typically you don't *want* to do part throttle tuning on a dyno, because the price per hour is higher than having a tech ride around in the car. It's more economical to do the part throttle tuning on the street, and save the dyno for WOT.

Thanks for the info I guess I just don't like the idea of someone else ripping around in my car. I thought that hondata already came with near perfect part throttle maps.

The starting maps are just that...a starting point. Every car is different. A map that worked perfectly in one setup might be slightly off in another.

I drove around for over a year before getting my part throttle tuned correctly. It made such an enormous difference in the drivability of the car that I almost feel it should be a requirement for purchasing the system.
