s300 communication problems

hey everyone im richard from new zealand.

I drive a honda civic eg5 3 door hatch

running a Hondata s300j on a P30 ecu

Modifications
b18c block
b16a head skimmed, ported and polished
CTR pistons and crank
grant piston rings
Blox stage 2 competition cams, retainers and springs
buddyclub cam gears
s4c jdm box
cold air box and intake,
skunk2 intake manifold
sard adjust fuel px reg
Xforce headers
2.5 inch exhaust system
standard b16a injectors and sensors, dizzy and solinoid
ALL OBD1

I cant add the calibration as an attachment as the hondata wont hold one.
When it is plugged into the laptop it comes online but doesnt talk to the laptop. so when i try and upload a calibration nothing changes or happens. it also brings up an check light which when the check circuit is closed it tuns off straight away and doesnt flash a series of codes. The error also doesnt appear on the DTC page at all.

The car wil not idle as yet due to the cams and obviously with the above problem its hard to tune.

The car will also not go into vtec. the sensation is much like boost cut on a turbo car when it reaches vtec point. will continue to rev but not make power and another check light comes on which again turns off imediatly when the check circuit is closed.

I have contacted speed factor who is the NZ agent i used and they were very defensive about this and claimed it must be the car. howeve ive had the car into the other nz agent who doesnt fit the chips but sends them to you and he has tried with the same lack of success to get the ecu running. he managed to get it to work for about 30 minutes by resting the unit on its side and all of a sudden it it just stopped communicating again. so he determined the car isnt at fault and the NZ new Eg5 was set up for vtec but never ran it. so all the wiring is there and we have checked that and tested that it works.

any help would be much appreciated as im totally stuck and is more and more looking like im on my own

Kind Regards

Richard Milner

Can you explain what happens when you upload in more detail?

eg when you load a calibration and press 'upload', does it come up with any errors?

If that works, can you datalog, both with the engine off and the engine running?

I selected a calibration, alterer the parametres such as knock and gear ratios and idle etc. then go to upload, i press upload and it says its uploading but then it doesnt actually change anything.

this is all while the ecu is saying its online at the bottom of the page.

Try setting a revlimit of 1000 RPM and uploading. THen see if the car will rev over 1000 RPM. Who socketed the ECU...has J1 been jumpered?

I'm Boci from Hungary and i'm dragracing with a B16A civic.

The problem is the following:
that it allows to download only(but not well), it's denies uploading. The red lights is lightning continuosly, and downloaded table contains false datas.
This worked perfectly till ages, but this problem came suddenly, when i wanted to reprogamize it.

Try opening Smanager, go to file, new, and select any calibration. Turn the key to the on position and try uploading the calibration. IT should prompt to update the firmware.

s300 comm problems..still:(

I tried, and at uploading it writes:
"upload failed -please try upl again"
and red light at s300 lighting continously

At downloading:
"please check all calibration parameters for accuracy"
And then next window:
"floating division by zero"

"

Are both the green and red lights next to the USB connector on solid?
