boost creep and timing retarded experienced tuners look

Post by ziggity »

well i have a h22a4 drag 4 manifold and all other very good proven components that should not be causing boost creep. Does anyone run this manifold without issues?

heres the story, i put a Head gasket in my h22a4 to lower the compression to approx 9.5:1 in which case i should be able to run more timing than what was on my base map for a 10:1 h22 correct? I brought it to one of hondatas reccomended tuners and we were getting boost creep on a 4.35 psi spring all the way up to 10 psi  also my EGTs are severely high (sign of retarded timing) the boost creep begins when the EGTs get really hot nearly 1000C and this is tapped at the exhaust

my question is could my retarded timing causing hot EGTs make boost creep since hotter gasses have more energy? this would make the turbo keep spinning while the WG is open

and btw i have tried everything to cure this problem so please dont suggest my vaccum lines. I have narrowed it down to this timing thing or the manifold, which is strange because nobody else with this manifold has boost creep

Yup. Retarded timing can result in boost creep.
There is a decent thread on HT about this. Do a search.

yes that thread on h-t is what inspired this theory i was just wondering if anyone has experienced this first hand or if anyone has used the drag gen 4 manifold for the h22
