I have a 2000 honda civic ex, D16y8 stock with exhaust, im running S300 with p72 ob1 comp.

I keep getting the "non compatible USB devices pop up."

Ive tested the USB port on laptop with other USB devices and they work and even switched USB cords, STILL not working.

How do I get the laptop to see the S300?

What shows up the the Windows Device manager when you plug in the s300 with the key in the on position?

With the key on,in the windows device manager under universal USB devices, Hondata s300 doesnt even show up.

I just tried a different laptop and still no work?

What does show up? When you plug it in, something will show up, and when you unplug it something will disappear.

nope nothing shows up. I was hoping that the yellow box would be showing up next to it but not even the word hondata shows up anywhere?

It may not say hondata. When you unplug it, does the device manager window go blank then come back?

Yes when I plug it in and turn the key on, the device manager screen goes blank and then comes back on. but no changes in USB devices.

I have already updated drivers and tested USB,s but still says there non compatible.

what operating system are you using? Did you perform a USB update through SManager?

I am running windows xp. Yes I have updated every driver I could. Something interesting happens when I turn the key to on position.

The device manager screen blinks rapidly like 10 times then says at the bottom of screen that USB device not recognized.

Did you do the socketing yourself? Does a red " ! " mark come up next to the universal serial bus port under device manager?

No I dont know who did the socketing, I bought this on ebay. I did however pull the cover off and inspect the ecu to even see if there was hondata installed.

Hondata is installed and is very clean on the inside! I inspected for burnt solder joints and havent found anything.

Would this tpye of problem be a hondata problem or a connectivity issue with my laptop?

And no red mark appears either.

What is the serial number of the s300? It is possible that you purchased a damaged s300 since it was purchased from Ebay. There will also be some thing that shows up oin the devicemanager. IT may not be under USB, but may be in unknown devices.

Sorry for late reply

My serial # is S300-0561.

How much would it cost for someone to look at it?
