Dear all!

I have a Comptech supercharger with comptech header and AEM intake on my TSX 04 automatic. Naturally I also have my Hondata reflash.

The issue is as follows:

My engine performs worse than stock. To be precise - it does not provide any power under 3000 RPM - this is even when accellerator is fully pressed. So starting from complete stop is like - very very slow acceleration - then from 3000 upwards the engine is suddenly alive and winds up to 6900 RPM to switch to another gear. Performance between 3000 RPM and 6900 RPM is "so so" - a little better than stock TSX (tested with stock automatic TSXes - I'm only a little better racing against them - and much much worse - when starting from 0 mph).

There is another point - when the car is cold in the morning - and oil temp is less then the usual 11 o'lcock. The 0-3000 RPM range feels VERY different for 5 minutes until oil temp rizes to normal. The power is substancially higher.

Generally - to me - this feels like the computer has not been reflashed (I AM sure that it has been at Hondata).

Questions:

1. What do you think is the problem with my TSX?
2. Would the symptoms be similar if I used the computer without reflash with such a setup?
3. What are your suggestions, thoughts, comments, anything?

4. Everybody is welcome to provide any feedback on their experience with Comptech superchargers / hondata reflash combination.

What is the serial number of your ecu?

Do you have the Comptech black box (electronics) installed?

Something must be wrong with your installation. I had the Comptech Supercharger on an 2005 Auto TSX with 04 ECU and the car is significantly faster than the non supercharged TSX's. My car (5AT) dynoed at almost 230whp/170tq as opposed to 170whp/139tq before the s/c. A buddy of mine with a supercharged 5AT can easily beat a 3rd gen TL auto from a standstill.

The only complaint was an annoying hesitation between 2000 and 3000rpms when at partial throttle. Supposedly comptech was working with hondata for a new reflash to correct this but nothing came of it. At full throttle, there is no hesitation and past 3000rpms the car pulls very hard. I took the supercharger off because i am considering trading my car and I need some money.. but now that my car is back to NA, the car is way too slow for me now.

Suggestions:
Make sure you have the comptech acm installed as well as the s/c reflash on your ecu. Also, make sure the fuel pressure regulator was modified as per comptech's instructions. Another thing you have to check is your belt tension..it maybe slipping or it can even be too tight. I would have the car dynoed to check the hp/tq figures and also the a/f ratio....just to ensure the kit is working properly.

I must add - the car is eating 35 liters of 98 octane fuel per 100 km. so how is that possible if there is not enough fuel in the mix????


The performance degrades even more if it's hot outside. Like 25 degrees celcius yesterday - it had a hard time starting moving uphill.

Yes the black box is installed.

I've done everything at 9000RPM / Moscow dealer of comptech / Hondata. They say that they've already sent the details to you and you have confirmed that reflash has been done properly... :((( Hondata says blackbox is probably not working.

What do you think? Why does the car eat so much and is at the same time suffering from not enough fuel in the mix? I'm through 2000 km now since I installed the SC

The Comptech ACM box provides fuel under boost.
The Hondata reflash alters only cam angle, ignition and VTEC point.

The reason your car runs well when cold is that the ECU is adding enrichment fuel.

Take your car to your dealer and check the AF ratio under boost. It is likely the ACM unit is not working. Do not drive your car under boost until fixed. You will damage your engine.

Your dealer, 9000 RPM, was advised of this 11th May, two days before your post.

Is this ACM thing a simple device?

Don't say anything about warranty - I understand.

But how difficult should it be to repair it locally?

PS I've taken the SC off, as you've recommended.

We don't know anything about the ASM.
