Setup:
DOHC ZC in a 91 CRX Si
Converted to OBD1 using a Rywire adapter harness
Hondata S300 installed in a USDM P06 ECU by a Hondata dealer w/ Boost option
Problem: I am getting a VSS code and the vehicle speed doesn't show up in SManager. I have a PLX R300 hooked up and it can see the signal from the VSS - no problem prior to converting to OBD1.
Testing I have done:
- Verified VSS signal is present using the R300.
- Checked the wiring from pin B16 to B10 on the wiring harness. I also verified continuity between B16 and B10 - no broken wire.
Any other ideas? Everything else seems to be working just fine.
Does the VSS code cause the ECU to fall into fail safe mode? Can I still get tuned with the VSS code?
Thanks!
Chris

That is what I figured too, but thought I would ask. The dealer was importparts.com but I have a dealer local to me if I need to have it repaired or whatever.Preccord00 wrote:if everything is good untill it gets to the ECU then it's probably the ECU.
possibly bad solder job, etc.
Hondata will probably ask who the dealer was.
Does the VSS signal throw the ECU into limp mode? The car seemed to drive fine w/ it BUT as it is untuned I was taking it pretty easy anyway.
No, we do not do ecu repairs. I would suggest taking the car to a Hondata dealer so they can use the process of elimination to determine where the problem is. Where is the PLX getting it's VSS signal from and how do you have it connected?

Thanks. I had the car tuned by a local Hondata dealer (TC Performance) and we traced the signal all the way down to the pin entering the ECU. It has to be a problem with the ECU. Any recommendations? It is going to cost me about $200 to get a new working, chipped ECU.Spunkster wrote:No, we do not do ecu repairs.
