CEL's

Alright i have an 02 Civic Si with a Greddy Turbo, Intercooler, EVO TT Exhaust and of course K-Pro. I've been getting CEL codes for quite some time. When scanned it says that the car is running rich, random cylinders missfire, cylinder 2,3,4 missfire. When you clear the codes they come right back after a little bit. Now someone mentioned to me that Hondata is set up for 12ohm and my greddy kit came with 16ohm 440's and that once i change injectors my problems will be solved. Is this true or is there something else that needs to be fixed or checked. Thanks

The first thing to do is to pull out a spark plug and check that it is OEM. Second, check that the turbo has not melted the wiring behind the turbo yet. The copper goes brittle with the heat and then breaks inside the plastic insulation - hard to diagnose. Next measure the resistance of an injector - our calibration is made for 16 ohm injectors. If all else looks ok, it just needs tuning.

For the spark plugs i'm using DENSO IRIDIUM POWER SPARK PLUG: IK22. The Wiring behind the turbo was replaced last month. I searched and i only found one source that says the injectors that came with my kit are actually 12ohm. Any place specifically i can go 2 get the resistance measured at? and if the resistance is 12ohm would it cause that problem?

Use a multimeter and check the resistance across the 2 pins.

mine did that as well... i bought plugs and tightened them down a lil more than hand tight. u may have to have one step colder plugs than u are running now... do u have an aem a/f gauge? or u can datalog and see what air/fuel u r running?

I pulled off the plastic cover and saw the injectors. I tried stickin the volt meter every way i can think of to get a reading but i didn't get anything. I'm not very familar with cars so i don't know what you were refering to when you said pins on the injectors. I called greddy to ask them the ohms and they had me call rc. RC told me that the injectors on the kit are 12.5. Does this help at all or do the injectors still need to be measured and if so how do i reach these pins?

K24 would be colder? I don't have either at the time. When it was tuned it read out find but not sure what the ratio was. When i get a hold of my friends laptop i'll let you know.

You need to measure the injector resistance before going any further.

1. Switch the multimeter to resitance, or ohms settings, range 0-20 ohms. You can test the setting but shorting out the probes - you should see less than 1 ohm.

2. Remove the connector from the injector, put one probe on each pin sticking out of the injector (it does not matter which way around).

3. Profit.

Alright the injectors were checked and it reads:

Injector 1: 12.6ohm's
Injector 2: 12.6ohm's
Injector 3: 12.7ohm's
Injector 4: 12.5ohm's

So what's next?

They are 12 ohms. The calibration was made for 16 ohms. The injectors are quite different at low openings.

You can either re-tune to the 12 ohms injectors, or swap the injectors to 16 ohms.

It might be possible that someone has a calibration for a Greddy turbo kit using 12 ohm injectors.

Alright I had the car re tuned with the calibration changed to 12 ohms. On the dyno no check engine light. When I started driving it around town I drove up a hit a hill at a steady pace. The car then acted as if it choked or hiccupped about twice. Then the check engine light came back on and I'm guessing it will say cylinder missifire when I read it tomorrow. Do you have any idea what else I can do? I'm due for replacing my spark plugs so I'm thinking maybe going with 24's rather than 22 like the guy suggested would you agree with that?

oh I forgot to add that the car wouldn't pull hard at times and that i'm still notcing that as well. When the car hasn't been driven it will pull hard but after driving on it for a little bit some times it just won't pull. Even after having it retuned.

A misfire is either a tuning issue, or a failure from the o2 sensor or wiring. Do a datalog and look at the short term fuel trim.

Short term fuel trim should be less than 10%
