S300 Start Up and Idling Issues

first off, thanks for any help I can get.

I have a 2000 Civic Hatchback, with an OBD2 JDM B18C1 motor in it. I did the swap myself two years ago, and the engine has run perfectly since.

I recently purchased an OBD1 P72 ECU, and sent it to Hondata to have it socketed. Then I simply installed a brand new S300 chip I had.

My engine is mostly stock at the moment (intake, exhaust, TB) and ran perfectly on the stock ECU (JDM OBD2). Looking to install the S300, but maintain stock specs, I created a Stock JDM P72 file in Smanager, and uploaded to the ECU. Since I hadn't switched the wiring for the VTEC, IABs, and Knock sensor over to the new conversion harness yet, I disabled them in Smanager and re updated the ECU. When I went to cold start the car, it would fire, make it to 1000 rpm, and then instantly die. I tried a few times, and got an IAC error code. Seeing as how this was not a problem before I installed the ECU, I disabled the error code and tried again, with no luck. Out of time to work, I plugged the Stock ECU back in and everything ran perfectly. After driving for a while with the car warmed up to operating temps, I reinstalled the S300 ECU, and started the car. With the car at operating temps, the car would start, and idle, but it was rediculously low (550-650 rpm).

My question is simple. Why will the car run perfectly on the stock ECU, but not on the S300 ECU with OBD1 GSR files?

any help would be appriciated.

Thanks,
Joe

fuel injector settings could be wrong, IACV might need to be modified for the low idle.

Usually if it's hard to start but works fine with a normal ECU, but at the same time the hondata will work at operating temp, it's due to either fuel map, ignition map or a mixture of the 2.

Like on my H22A, the H22A settings they have on the create new run absolutely positively HORRIBLE on mine, infact I'm running a modified JDM P72 map that adjusts for AF where needed, the timing on the H22 map wont let me start my car when it's cold, I later found out that by using the timing from the B18 and the fuel map from the H22 that it would start, but it still ran like crap because it was running SUPER rich.

I'd try running another map that has lower fuel, you can also play with the O2 settings to get your idle a little better. You're not going to get your car to run right directly off of the pre-set maps provided, you're going to need a wideband and a day on the dyno to get it purring just right.
