another immobiliser question ...

Hi,

I got myself a PRA Kpro'ed ECU for my honda civic type R (UK).
So everything seems fine.

I just come back from the dealer where we tried to map the immobilizer to the KPro'ed ECU.

I made sure I followed the steps:

Upload a map with immobiliser ON to the ECU.
Stop the car
Try to start it with no success.
The dealer plugged in his HONDA tablet pc to the ODB2 port, and at the last step of setting the new ECM/PGM code his tablet PC displayed "Cannot establish connection".
He tried a few times and locked his tablet PC.

Whilst he went to unlock it, I did a "Set Security" / "Erase Security".
I resent another map to the ECU, with no immobiliser,
I sent a map WITH immobiliser
Stop the car
Start the car (didnt work, so all good).

he tried again with his tablet pc, and same connection error as before.

Any idea guys? I'm using the latest K-Manager.
Although the dealer had never done a KPro'ed ECU immobiliser recode before, his wild guess was that maybe the ECU I got is for an 02 type-r, where I got a facelift 05 one.I thought there wasnt any difference is there?

I'm not sure on this, but do you have OBDII enabled? It's the check box right under immobilizer enabled. I made sure that I did when I had my car done, there weren't any connection problems at all. The only reason I say this is because the tech connects his scanner to the OBDII port under the steering wheel.

yes man, thanks for the guess.

I did check it had ODBII turned on.

The car actually seem to talk to the tablet PC, it's only on that last input that the techy does that the tablet PC returns an error.

Sounds like it's their problem. When I had mine done, I had to practically walk the tech through the procedure as nobody there had ever done anything like this since they went to tech training.

how does that sound like a Honda problem?
I was sitting next to the techy whilst he was doing it and we followed step by step the PDF from the hondata website.

For me there is a genuine problem between the ECU and the Honda tablet PC.
Or at least if there isn't I'd like to know what is going wrong?

can you give me your opinion on my problem please?

I'm in the process of tracking down the retailer of that ECU, since I bought it 2nd hand to a guy who bought it 2nd hand himself.

This was tested and the PRA was able to be reprogramed with for a new key and immobilizer using the instructions on our website. Your dealer has done something wrong.

Ok Spunkster,

just wanted to have the confirmation from a Hondata person that there wasnt any upgrade, and that basically it should have worked.

Some other users are having the same problem (ie a dealer not beeing able to match the K-Pro to their immobilizer). However some cool users on the UK forums have told us of a few dealers who seem to know their stuff, so that's where I'm heading next.

Just an update to say that I took the garage to a proper Honda dealer (Chiswick), and they've sorted the problem out.
