JDM P30 Auto-Manual Conversion Help

In the Installation Manual it says to swap the RP18 resistor for one 1 K ohm less to change the P30 JDM EG9 ECU to manual. Someone at Hondata technical said instead to remove both RP17 and RP18 and then add a jumper to RP18. This is what I had done after clarifying it three times with him. The ECU still throws an automatic transmission solonoid code. What's up with the technical department at Hondata? Using stunt doubles there now?
