hondata noobie

Post by FlySi »

ok where to start, i have a 99 si with mild bolt on's and have been piecing together a custom turbo kit.
hondata being my choice of ecu i went to payn tech and got the S200 system. matt was really cool and helped me with the sale, i got the base s200 system, supposedly with stock vtec point and rev limiter 5500 and 8000. onto my problems-

i dont think there is a rev limiter set onthe ecu, i figured i better test the rev limiter, so i went on the expressway in 3rd gear i got the oe tacho up to 8500 (yes i know its 5-10% off, and this is normally where it bounces off the limiter) Matt had told me that the valves begin to float at 8200 so i didnt want to fully test this theory.

i was expecting AC cutout, a always have my vents on defrost setting and the AC is always on so i thought this would be perfect. well that feature seems to be disabled.

was also expecting to have my check engine light flash as a shift light at 7800-7900 it didnt, so i attemped to set it myself, i following the instructions with the push button flashing 4 times i brought the rpm's just below 4000 and tapped the brakes, turn off the car, restart it and wow now my shift light is set to 2000 RPM, so and my check engine light is basicly always on. i dont dare try and set the rev limiter for fear of having to take hondata completly out. (also note that the cd i was provided with has instructions for stage 1-4, i figured the S200 would setup the same)

so my question is what do i need to set this basic stuff up? are these features not included with the s200 system? i have a laptop and an unable to connect to the ecu (i think because i dont have dataloging) but i am not sure.

true, i am not boosted yet, but i do want to enjoy the features the ecu offers for NA setup.

any help would be great
thanks

Really!?! I remember accidentally bumping the fuel cut off a few times with my rev limit set at 8500 in my '00 JRSC'd Si. I used to full throttle shift with it set that high...
Oh well. :?
