summer tuned car/ ok for winter?

Post by :10: »

just curious if having your car tuned with kpro during the summer, if the tune will have problems with colder weather when winter comes around?

this is for a basic N/A (RH/Exhaust/intake) k20a3

yep...probably a stupid question...... :D

thanks.

It depends on what temp compensation tables you tuned with. If you had the tables that come in the coldair calibration -- if anything, you will probably be .1 - .2 a/f richer (which is perfectly fine) when it gets colder in my experience. If it was REALLY humid when you were tuned, and it dries out in winter, since the ecu cannot compensate for moisture in the air, it may run leaner.

The real answer is you will probably be just fine if your compensation tables are the same ones that are in the coldair calibration. It's always a good idea to do a few datalogs to check.

Another thing, which doesn't affect n/a as much as boosted, is winter fuel. With the increased density of the air and the lesser quality of winter fuel, you may find yourself knocking some and you may need to pull igniiton in a few places for winter. I doubt you will experience this with your setup however.
