Hi,
I'm having connection issues between my laptop and k pro on my buddies car. I have the newest Kmanager, and all is fine if the car is not running, but it leeps disconnecting, and then I have to unplug the usb cable in order to get a connection back again.
I can't tune the car or anything when it keeps disconnecting on the laptop.
I use this same laptop with my own personal S300 with no issues.
Please help.. My buddy wants to go racing, this is a crazy k20/k24 setup in a full race car.

Hondata really needs to make a sticky for this topic -- it's fairly common. I see this question asked at least once a week it seems.
The basic answer is it's electrical noise in the car knocking usb offline between the ecu and the computer. There's a couple of potential solutions. the first thing to do is ensure you're running spark plugs with the internal resistor like the oem ones. See here:
http://hondata.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3093 . If this isn't the problem, you should ensure you're using a shielded usb cable. The usb cable k-pro shipped with earlier didn't have ferrites to kill electrical noise. A good usb cable that is shielded well and has ferrites may fix you in short order. You should also ensure that you've correctly grounded the ground lead that originally connected to the intake manifold. that's in the same loom as the injectors. See here:
http://hondata.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3094 . You might consider running some copper battery wire w/ copper eyes (aka grounding kit) from your engine head/that ground location back to the negative battery terminal and potentially re-ground/check the frame ground as well. As a last resort -- search for anything in your car that could be producing excessive electrical noise. In my car, the methanol pump turning on can cause me to lose connection. I should probably shield it since it's right next to the relay that runs back into the ecu outputs -- I might try ferrites around some of my wires heading back towards the ecu. You get the idea.
Oh, some laptops just don't work well with the ecu -- dells I think had an issue. Try another laptop as well, if possible.
