I have tuned a few cars that have cam phase angle adjustment.
(Other makes, not just Honda/K-pro)

Some observations:
It seems that the optimal (best power) cam angle in some
K-pro applications could be greater than the ~50deg maxiumum.

My reasoning: similar to afr tuning we can have too much
or too little fuel so its possible to find the afr that makes best power.

On the k-pro I am un-able to input an angle that is 'too far'
inorder to make ~less power.
Like this: If I make several dyno runs to find best cam angle and results
are:(example)
0 deg - 5hp
10deg - 7hp
20deg - 9hp
30deg - 11hp
40deg - 11hp
50deg - 9hp
I can be fairly sure that best power is somewhere between 30 and 40 deg.

but if my peak hp is at 50deg, (or 0deg) how do I know there isn't
~more power avai;able if I had a larger range of adjustment. OR
could the cam 'center' possibly be moved to allow me to find best power?

On other makes I have obseved that at MAX cam advance,
power is reduced quite a bit, but at least ~optimal cam angle (best power goal) is inside the adjustment range.


I don't have a 'real' question, I suppose.... :)

The 0 - 50 degrees is a hard limit in the k20a2 and k20z1 vtc system. The 'center' is around 25 degrees if you want to think of it that way, 0 is least overlap, 50 is most overlap. Any more than 50 degrees and you start getting close to pistons hitting valves on the intake side as the VTC only affects intake cam phase. If you want more overlap for an N/A operation, perhaps a set of aftermarket n/a cams is in order.
