Hondata "P28" issue / pics

Hi,

First, I've already chipped a couple of PM7/P28/P30 ECU's, and i've search for a similar problem but don't find an answer.

I hope the hondata specialists can find the solution.

So, my friend bought a USDM S100 ecu. I've seen that it is in fact a P06 auto ECU, modified by hondata into a "P28-OBD1" ecu (there's a sticker on the side).
This ecu is used on a Integra type R with a OBD2a to OBD1 conversion harness.
The issue is that VTEC is not engaging, the engine cuts around VTEC engaging point (5600 rpm) and "restart" reving until 9000 rpm but I'm sure that's high cam aren't engaged.
The car was tested with an stock P30 ecu and run fine.
I know that this type of ecu need to be modified in order to run VTEC maps (I've never had non VTEC ecu before), but I think the work has benn done by Hondata.

I also have another question : how can I run a JDM ecu on a EUDM car ?
We have a B16 civic with a XG5 mugen ecu, I think the harness have been modified because we can't start another "stock" B16 civic with the same ecu.

Finally sorry for my English, I try my best to be well understood.

Thanks for any help

Alexis

Please post the calibration and datalog showing this happen.

Sorry but what do you mean by "calibration" ?

I posted here because I don't think the tune is the issue. The same bin runs great with another Ecu.

But I can provide you a datalog (with a PLX R500) in a few weeks.

Another input, please tell me if it's right or not :
I've seen that there are 2 capacitors (C51 and C52, the same as we need to put in if you want to run Crome/Uberdata bin). But these capacitors aren't mentionned in the installation guide of the S100.
Is it a matter ??

If you do not think it is the tune, then it is probably the socketing of the ecu. The 2 capacitors are not needed. Can you please post a closeup picture of the bottom of the ecu where the soldering has been done?

If the ECU runs fine until VTEC I suspect that it is the power supply to the ECU. Once the ECU activates the VTEC solenoid then the voltage drops and the ECU shuts down. Check that the ECU is getting 12V to pins A25 and B1, and that the power ground is good (pins A23 and A24). Does this ECU work in an OBDI vehicle?

Ok, so the ecu was tested on a EG hatch with B16A2, the problem it the same. In another hand, I've modified a stock P30 and the integra runs great with it. I'll recheck the "hondata's" maps.

I've found a post where they talk about misfiring and replacing QM1 and QM2 transisitors to fix it.... good idea ?

thanks for your advice

You should not have to replace those. Has this car been tuned? Have you tried hooking up an s200 and datalogging to see all the paramaters when the problem occurs?

The car isn't mine, I've installed the stuff to plug my PLX R500 in the integra but I'll data only in 2 or 3 weeks.
Now I'm finish tuning controlling my turboed civic.

So, my friend's has a RM22xx kit so the bin come from Rocket Motorsport. He had contacted them and tried diffrent bins. All these bin have been tested by RM and should run fine.

I know what is tuning, and I understand what you think. But I think it's weird, with this tested bins the car won't run perfectly but I've never seen such a problem.

I'll post a datalog session as soon as possible.

thx
