ECU components for boost control

Wonder what the components are that need to be added to the ECU for the boost control circuit.

I know that there is a
220ohm resistor
330ohm resistor
diode (I understand that it is soppost to be a 1A, 100V diode)
Small drive transister = (what is this one? looks like a TO92 case but that is all that I can gather)
Large drive transister = (what is this one? Looks like a TO220 case but again, thats all that I can gather also)

Transisters, are they NPN, PNP, what is the amp rating, ect...?

It's best to just send your ECU in to Hondata to have it done, or order a kit from a dealer. Take my advice.

I have called 6 different dealers thus far and none of them know anything about a kit for it.

I am more then capable of doing the more myself being that I use to build and repair circuit boards for a living, and I just cant justify the $50 to have it done when I know that I can go and get the components from the company that I use to work for, for probably not more then $2.00.

Also, dont have another ECU and cant aford to have the car down for a few days either while it is sent off.

If no one can tell me the actuall components, then could someone tell me of a dealer that has them. So I dont have to waste more time calling around.

This is getting stupid. all they keep doing is posting up the ECUsocketing form which is $50 for 3 dollars in parts and 10min of work or telling us to get if from the dealer.....

Well I called the dealers and no one has them. I E-mail'd Hondata and they wont tell me a simple part number.

Dealers were notified that the kits were available when the announcment was made about the boost control being available. Most dealers should have placed orders for kits. Each dealer I'm sure has different prorities and will get them in soon. When we placed our order yesterday the phones were pretty darn busy there...

So the options have been layed out plain and simple.. send the ECU into Hondata and 50.00, they will put the componets on the ECU and send it back to you, OR contact a dealer and have them contact Hondata, order a kit, and let them sell you the kit. Then you can take the kit install the kit yourself.

Pretty much the only options I see here.

Option 3:

look in a PR4 with the parts installed from the factory, then go to electronics store and spend $3.93

The reason we are not encouraging a do it yourself approach is that many people end up with a huge mess to save $6.

If you are capable of installing the parts yourself then you should be able to easily work out the required part specifications and obtain the parts.

Some people would prefer to drive 40 miles to save .05 a gallon on gas.

the point is not two save a few $ here, but like $40..... I have no problem with buying the kit, but the point is, is that the ECU is out of the car and apart right now so thus its easier to deal with now.

This is not my car, it is a costumers car and although It is not vital that the car be running by tomorrow, I would like to make the costumer happy by having it running by tomorrow and therefore anything that would be time saving would be benifical.

I asked a simple question that only requiered a simple answer, not for others to start going off on tangents. Spending $8 or $10 vr's $3 or $4 is not that big of a real to me, but the problem is that I would like to get the stuff and install it today and that is not going to happen if I have to buy the kit. Yes, I guess that I will just have to figure out what the two transistors are.

Its pretty sad though that Hondata has and sells the components and yet will not tell me what they are, (assuming just to make a buck). Again, like I said, I have no problem buying the kit but when I have called several different dealer and either they have not heard about any kit or they have no price for it and tell me that they would have to get it from Hondata direct then it just wastes more of my time.

As this is a new feature it will take some time for our dealers to become familar with what is involved and also to stock the parts.

I'm sorry that our socketing policy does not fit in with your customers requirements, but I have outlined why we do it this way. It is not 'to make a quick buck' as the cost of compents plus our time to package and send the components equals the sale cost. It is done this way to ensure that the socketing is done correctly and the ECU works.
