MSD 3 BAR Problem

Post by 92integra »

When i went from the s200 to the s300 i put in an msd 3bar instead of the GM 3 bar because the MSD numbers where already programmed in. Now when i drive and shift my AF's jump to 18-19 for that split second. Also, as soon as i lift my foot from the throttle the AF's jump 18-19 lean then my PLX reads AIR not a problem but i throw a check engine light for the map sensor... clear it and all is fine again

Secondly, when i am driving and not adding pressure on the gas pedal and the car catches up, where there is no more load, like cruising speed the AF's jump up again 18-19 and the car bucks but as soon as i add pedal all is good again.......

lastly all my AF's range from 14.2 to 11.9(underboost) on street tune trying to figure this out before i put it on the dyno

Your MAP sensor parameters are wrong if you are getting an error code. If the car was tuned on the GM MAP then I'd recommend staying with the same sensor, or re-tuning. One problem with GM MAP sensors is there are 3 different parts sold as 3 bar sensors, so it may not have been correctly calibrated when tuned. As a quick test with the ignition on and engine off you should see atmospheric pressure from the MAP sensor. This will vary with your elevation.

sorry for the delay, but from what you are saying i can guess that the programmed scalar and offset for msd will have to be recalculated using that long formula... and i do under stand that retunning is required, just trying to get this down first..

thanks for the responce!!
