EVAP wiring for ?98 D16Y7 swapped to ?97 B18C with s300

Post by strider »

Getting confused after looking at all the schematics for my 1998 Civic DX while comparing to the B18C1 OBD1 schematics.

I am using a 1998 Civic EVAP solenoid. I have a 1997 B18C (JDM GSR) converted to OBD1, running the S300 in a P72 ecu.

The problem is that my car idles in columns 3 and 4, as well as not fast idling at a cold start. So I started going down the list to figure out what could be wrong. I finally found that I had the vacuum lines for the EVAP solenoid backwards. This occurred because I was referencing the 2000 Civic Si solenoid illustration, which is basically a mirror image of the 1998 Civic DX solenoid in the Helms manual. I have not had a chance to check if this got the car to idle in column 1and 2, but it still doesn?t seem to fast idle on a cold start. This lead to another question?

Is my EVAP solenoid wired correctly for the P72 OBD1 ecu? I have a black/yellow wire and a red/yellow wire on the EVAP solenoid connector. According to the Helms the red/yellow should run to the ecu (A20 for an OBD1 P72). But I am not sure if the black/yellow should be a ground or a power source. Currently the black/yellow grounds somewhere when I checked for continuity. Though I haven?t had time to confirm which wire actually goes to the ecu.

Anyone know how this should be wired?

Thanks for any help!
