DC Sports O2 Sensor Location

Post by steelbuster »

I'm doing a B16A engine swap into a 89 CIvic Si. The engine is from a JAP Civic SiR with a PW0 ECU. I Want to use a DC Sports 4-2-1 Header which has only 1 Sensor Bung at the end of the collector. I read the Tech Article about using 2 sensors for proper closed loop operation.
I don't have the stock manifold so I need to know which cylinder pairs go togeather and exactly where the sensors should be located in the header pipes.
Thanks

I ordered 2 O2 Bungs from HybridGarage and will weld them into the Header on the #3 and #4 cylinder tubes about 8-10 inches from the head. They need to be close to the head as they are not heated sensors. There is no way to get your PWO ECU equiped engine to operate correctly unless you use 2 sensors cause the ECU sets the mixture for the 2 seperate cylinder pairs based on the input from those sensors. The engine will run using only 1 sensor, but the mixture will be alternately very lean or rich. This occures whenever it is operateing in closed loop. At anything over 80% throttle opening, it operates in open loop and doesn't use the O2 sensors...therefor...runs great at WFO.

If I remember correctly. I think it was 1 and 3 paired.

I believe the cylinder pairs are 1 & 3 and 2 & 4. therefor the sensors in the #3 and 4 tubes. Is that what your saying too?
