Connection problem

I was out part throttle tuning my car last night for an hour or so then all of the sudden the S300 wasnt connected anymore, then a driver install prompt poped up and it said USB <-> Serial and this happens any time i plug it back in, So now I cant get it to recognize it as an S300 anymore.

-I have formatted and reinstalled windows
-Checked every single solder connection with a multimeter

This setup was socketed by me when these things first came out and it has worked ever since.

Setup:
2000 GSR
P28 ECU


I'm about to desolder the whole thing and do it over....

Tried another computer same thing. The ECU works fine it still uses the map that was on there the way it looks, no CEL, two green lights on the S300. I don't understand why it would just stop working after well over 6 months.

Yesterday I went through all 32 pins and traced them on the PCB and all pins had continuity to their respective component.

I have tried another computer and I have tried a new USB cable

Sounds like your serial port/USB adapter is not fast enough to keep up with the datalogging rate.

I had a similar problem with a USB 1.0 port on my computer. I upgraded to a PCMCIA card with a USB 2.0 port. Works fine now.

Well I have been using this one since august of last year. I originally thought the USB ports took a crap so I tried a brand new computer and it still did the same thing.


Also, I had been tuning for about 30min prior to it not working.

You may have to send in the ECU and s300 so we can take a look at it. What does it show up as in the device manager in Windows?

When it worked it showed up under USB as Hondata S300, now though it cannot find any suitable drivers even if I specify the correct .inf file it wont let me force it. so I think it just shows up as as question mark and says USB <-> Serial.

Please send the ecu and s300 to us with a very detailed description of the problem and all your contact details. The address to ship it to is on the main page of the Hondata website.

I just socketed my p61 and I'm getting the same thing.....

It looks like my local Hondata dealer has some S300's would it be possible to take it there and troubleshoot it with a new S300 and possibly replace the board to minimize down time.

The only thing I havn't troubleshot is the OBD conversion harness, which is not likely the problem, and trying a new S300.

It will need to be sent in. You may have a wiring problem, or have non-resistor spark plugs that are causing a large amount of electrical interferance to go through your ecu and that may have disrupted the usb part of the s300.

I changed the FPR that is why I was out part throttle tuning.

Everything has been the same since August, 29 2005...

Same NGK plugs which are "R"
