I bought a Hondata S200 setup for my 200whp all motor B18C1. Im now looking for an ECU. If i get a virgin ECU, what do i need to buy to hook up the hondata to it? If i buy a socketed ECU, do i need a 4 prong or 5 prong thing?
Im new to tuning, so bear with me.
Would it make a difference after tuning with hondata whether I have a P72 or P28? The P28 doesnt have a knock sensor.
First, is a knock sensor important?
Second, what does it do? (senses a rod knock... im assuming?)
What do I need?
I'm not sure what you mean by "a 4 prong or 5 prong thing". You will have to explain what you mean.
Your s200 should have come with a socketing kit for the ecu. Most Hondata dealers can socket the ecu. If you are not experienced with soldering then it is highly recommended that you have someone qualified do it for you.
The knock sensor is there to retard timing if detonation is detected. If the engine is properly tuned you do not need the knock sensor.

Thanks for the reply.
I bought the S200 used. It was already hooked up to another ECU, and the seller sold the ECU, which had the socketing hardware. I need to know what that is so i can either buy it for a virgin ecu, or buy an ECU with that hardware.
I found an ECU, but im not sure if it will work. This is what the seller told me: "It will work with any Hondata, but it does not have a datalogging port installed yet. I do have a 4 pin header connector, I think that is what's used even though there are 5 holes on the board."
Thats what I meant by 4 or 5 prong thing... a "pin header connector."
Is that what I need?
