Hi everyone, I just joined the forum but have been a Hondata user for over a year now. Last year I had my s200 installed/tuned at RPM NYC, which cost me roughly $1000 for installation/tuning/dyno time. I was pretty pleased, the car put down 215whp. Anyway, I am now looking into tuning the car myself and I understand that Ill need to purchase quite a few things to tune my s200. Im also aware that the new s300 doesnt require any of this, it all comes with the system...so my question is, if I were to purchase an s300 and sell my old s200, is there any way my tuner could just reinstall my old tune to the new system without making any other changes? Id love to upgrade, but I cant affor another $500 for another tuning session/dyno time, and I dont plan on making any other changes to the car for a few months so there is no need for a complete retune yet. All I want is the ability to tune the car myself so when I get ready to make some upgrades (i.e. bigger injectors) Ill be able to make the adjustments myself and start learning my way around the system/software. Im trying to do this as cheaply as possible.

So in summary my questions are, how much does it generally cost to install a new s300 without any tuning and is it possible to just transfer my old s200 tune to the newer system without any adverse affects? Is all of this even a good idea, or am I just wasting my time?

Yes, you can import your old tune into Smanager. It is very simple and the car should run the same.

Your ecu will need to be resocketed for use with the s300, but beyond that, there should be no hassles. I would recommend sending the ecu to Hondata to be resocketed to avoid the chance of damaging the ecu.

So is that $75 the total cost of resocketing the ECU, or is that just the shipping charge? Im guessing thats the total cost...So, it would be $595 for the s300 and $75 to resocket my ECU, then my tuner can just load my old tune into the sManager? Or would you be able to do that when I send out my ECU if I sent my s200 along with it? So that sounds like a total of about $670 for everything, then I can sell of my s200 and make some money back, and be able to tune myself, correct? :)

The $75 includes standard return shipping. If you get the file form your tuner you can load it into the s300 yoruself.

good question cause I was thinking of doing the same thing but..would it be possible to just transfer my tune with the s200 chip to the s300 without the file from my tuner..I have no way getting to my tuner cause I'm in a completely different state..what would i need to do this without my tuner?

You would have to have a pocket programmer or some kind of eeprom reader to read the file out of the chip.

You use the pcoket programmer to read the chip and save the chip. (Read buffer and save buffer if I remember correctly in the pocket programmer software). It will save it as a bin file. From there, open up the bin within Romeditor.
