Knock sensor circuit malfunction...HELP!!!

Post by IntgtypeR »

i have GReddy Turbo kit, 440cc inj, FMIC and the Kpro (of course) there was as lean code, changed the fuel filter and that went away, but i have tried to reset this knock code and it keeps coming back, i am going to get tuned this weekend, but i wanted to know if the motor is producing knock, or is the sensor bad if thats possible? will the tune get rid of this code? Please advise...

The greddy tunes have had some differences based on injectors. I've seen folks run greddy base maps and be WAY WAY lean. The knock sensor malfunction code is thrown when the knock sensor senses the motor knocks a LOT. I've seen a guy ignore that CEL and blow his motor -- he thought it was lying because he just had a race gas tune BUT the track sold him pump gas by mistake. You need to be easy on that car and ensure closed loop is enabled and limp to a tuner ASAP. It is possible that you have already done damage if you have been pushing the car. The base maps are no substitute for a dyno tune -- kits change the stuff they come with, you cannot always trust them, especially the greddy base map and kit, it's a well known issue on clubrsx.

When you posted this on club RSX you said that you ran with the emanage on the car for a short time...it is possible that you did not completely return the wiring in the car to stock and the knock code is caused by that...there is also the posibility that the knock sensor is unplugged, or the wire for it is damaged. You will need to follow the Helms manual to trouble shoot this error. What Razathorn has said is also very true.
